Sunday Chitrahaar Quiz No 3. is here. This time the quiz is a tribute to Hemant Kumar Mukherjee (death anniv 26th september), one of the finest composers and singers of Indian Film Industry. The magician of haunting melodies... His heavenly voice and magical tunes can hypnotize any listener and take him to another world. A singer with special baritone voice, you can be mesmerized with his songs as if a saint or fakeer is singing nearby. Although his baritone was considered a perfect voice for devotional songs, he had all kinds of songs, soft-romantic, comic, sad, haunting, chhed-chhad, and devotional songs... featured on actors like Dev Anand, Pradeep Kumar, Dharmendra, Gurudutt, Biswajeet and even Mehmood. As a composer, a master craftsman weaving his melodies around rabindra sangeet, traditional devotional and folk music and later introducing the electronic music in HFM. He has given us some of the finest haunting melodies of HFM. A fine composer and perfect voice for conveying the sound of silences... Was he a better singer or composer, the argument continues.. Kaifi Azmi has put it best “Can't decide if Hemant Kumar impressed me more as a good singer, a music director or by just begin a good human being. Maybe a combination of all three aspects is what made Hemant Kumar.” - Kaifi He had some of the memorable songs for Dev Anand and some of the finest compositions for Lata Mangeshkar (no examples since the quiz is open). Since Dev Anand (26th) and Lata Mangeshkar (28th) shares birthday in this week only and have special place in songs and compositions of Hemant da, a major chunk of the quiz features these two legends. The Quiz Chitrahaar is a quiz on Hindi popular music in which the questions are in the form of picturization info for a song and you have to guess the song and the film. The format was introduced by Abhay Kumar Achavat on RMIM. In this quiz, there could be additional hints such as the Pstats for the song, the film plot, cast, story etc. This new version of Chitrahaar presents clues in the form of a still taken from the song and additional text clues... Rules The life cycle of the sunday chitrahaar quiz runs for two weeks. A quiz that starts on a specific Sunday will conclude on Sunday, two weeks later. The quiz is divided in two phases. A quiz posted on Sunday will be followed by a reminder post with additional set of clues (not necessarily for all the questions) on the following Sunday. The answers received in the second phase (during second week of quiz,after reminder post with additional clues) will have Lower Weightages than the first phase ONLY for the questions for which additional clues are provided. Scoring In the first phase (for the entries received in the first week of the quiz) the scoring would be as below : One and Half points (1.5) for identifying the song and one point for identifying the film correctly. Later on the scoring pattern would be : One point for identifying the song and one point for identifying the film correctly, only for the questions for which additional clues are provided. For the questions having the same set of clues as earlier will have same scoring pattern of 1.5+1 The last date for sending your entry is 20th October, 2003...
