Triveni by Gulzar
Triveni is the new poetry collection by Gulzar. Published by Rupa & Co., Triveni features specific form of poetry innovated by Gulzar and given name triveni. This form was introduced by him in 1972/73. During that time "Triveni" found a regular place in hindi magazine "Saarika"
Triveni is an innovative form of peotry which is a bit different from the usual forms like sher and ghazal. Unlike shers, the trivenis are written with three misra's (three lines of poetry) where first two lines forms a complete sher and the introduction of third misra(line) gives the sher a new dimension or meaning. Sher ko kuchh naye maani mil jaate hain.
Bakaul Gulzar -
Triveni Bah nikli -
Shuru shuru mein jab ye form banaai thi, to pata nahin tha yeh kis sangam tak pahunchegi - Triveni naam isliye diya tha, ki pahle do misre, Ganga Jamuna ki tarah milte hain, aur ek khayal, ek sher ko mukammil karte hain. Lekin in do dharaon ke neeche ek aur nadi hai - Saraswati. Jo gupt hai. Nazar nahin aati; Triveni ka kaam saraswati dikhana hai. Teesara misra, kahin pahle do misron mein gupt hai. Chhupa hua hai
1972/73 mein Jab Kamleshwar Saarika ke editor the, Triveniyan Saarika mein chhapti rahi, aur ab -
Triveni ko baaligh hote, 27-28 saal lag gaye....
As for the collection is concerned, Gulzar has woven different threads of poetry around his favourite topics - life, love and relationships in this innovative form of poetry. The collection also features trivenis on some contemporary issues like politics, partition... Some of the triveni's present in the collection has already been published in Gulzar's earlier published collection "Pukhraj". Triveni is available in Urdu and Hindi Scripts... It seems that the proof reading is not properly done in the hindi edition, as it features more mistakes in print in hindi words than total trivenis featured.... Too many mistakes in forming the hindi words in publication, even two paragraphs of Gulzar's preface features a number of incorrect hindi words.... Roopa and co is known for english publications... if they want to continue publishing in Hindi, they should take care in future publications and need to improve on this aspect, otherwise a good collection like this doesn't leave a mark on reader's mind. Even good Poetry fails to create an impression due to incorrect wordings in print.
Kuchh Triveniyaan :-
Haath mila kar dekha aur kuchh soch ke mera naam
Rishtey kuchh bas band kitaabon mein hi achhe lagte hain...
Zulf mein youn chamak rahi hai boond
Jaise beri mein tanha ik jugnu
Kya bura hai jo chhat tapakti hai
Zindagi kya hai, jaan-ne ke liye
Zinda rahna bahut zaroori hai
Aaj tak koi bhi raha to nahin
Sab pe aati hai, Sabki baari se
Maut munsif hai, kam-o-besh nahin
Zindagi sab pe kyun nahin aati
Koi chaadar ki tarah kheenche chala jaata hai dariya
Kaun soya hai tale iske jise dhoondh rahe hain
Doobne wale ko bhi chain se sone nahin dete
Parchiyan bat rahi hain galiyon mein
Apne qaatil ka intekhaab karo
Waqt ye sakht hai chunaav ka
